Changes to your Household Waste Recycling Centres

Cheshire West & Chester Council operates seven Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across the borough.   A public consultation took place between 1 July and 1 September 2024 where residents had an opportunity to provide feedback on how we can improve the service at all seven sites, along with the aim to reduce overall waste, increase recycling and provide a cost-effective service.

A new vehicle registration system is being introduced to prevent unauthorised commercial use and the disposal of non-household waste along with ensuring those using the sites for their own household waste are residents who live in the borough.  From Autumn 2026 residents will need to register their vehicles using the new registration form which can be found on the Council’s website. A soft launch of the registration system will take place from 20 July where we will be encouraging residents to register before September.  From 27 July, an eight-page A5 leaflet will be delivered to all households across the borough advising about the registration process. This will also include information about further upcoming changes that were part of the 2024 consultation, namely the amount of DIY waste disposal and the introduction of sorting stations where residents can sort their waste to ensure as much as possible is recycled and placed into the correct skip at the HWRC.

It is quick and easy to register at: Find a recycling centre | Cheshire West and Chester CouncilIf residents do not have access to the internet and only want to register a “standard” type vehicle, they can contact 0300 123 7026 where assistance will be provided to complete their registration application form.
